Recipients of ESRC White Rose DTP Studentship will be offered the benefits below:

  • The sponsorship will pay for the fees at standard Research Council rates.
  • Fees may increase during the course of your program – it will be by the rate of inflation, estimated according to the Retail Price Index.
  • A maintenance funding(£15,609 – 2021/2022 Session for full-time study, part-time will be pro-rata at 60%).
  • Advanced Quantitative Methods students get an enhanced allowance of £3,000 per year for full-time Ph.D. study
  • Research Training Support Grant to fund travel and research costs during the PhD part of the award – variable amount based on the program with other stipends where applicable.

  • Admissible Criteria: All candidates must satisfy all the criteria below:
    • Candidates applying on both a 1+3 and a +3 basis MUST in the first place apply for a position on a research postgraduate program and be in receipt of a Student ID Number to be qualified for the studentship.
    • Submissions without a valid ID Number will not be rejected
    • Candidates must reside within a reasonable distance to the University of Leeds whilst benefiting from the scholarship.

  • Steps to Apply: firstly, apply for a research program of study by filling out the application form. The moment you are in receipt of your 9 digit Student Application ID, finish the online application form.
  • Necessary Documents: candidates must upload copies of qualifications or academic transcripts such as
    • Research proposal
    • Certified copies of qualification certificates
    • Certified copies of academic transcripts and English Language certificates,
    • Two references.
  • Admission Prerequisites: If you are confident that you have fulfil the minimum criteria for our Ph.D. research programs, you will have to enter the requirement details.
  • Language Prerequisites: IELTS of 7.0 overall, with at least 6.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent.
